Wise Owls goes into the Woods for the Summer Holidays

Cost: £37 per day (plus additional fees for outings)

This Summer we will immerse ourselves in the outdoors, all of our activities and outings will be centred around nature, our environment and exploring the wonders of the woods. We aim to use as many natural materials and resources as possible throughout the summer.

Week 1 - Into the woods

To kick off the first week of Summer Holidays we will be growing our own Butterfly in the club to learn about life cycles. Activities on offer will be: Making woodland wind chimes, making hungry caterpillar kebabs, planting own flowers and making a nature boat. Our outing will be on Tuesday this week to Odeon Cinema for the latest film and a trip to Grenfell Park. On Thursday we will go to Hollywood Bowl in Bracknell via Minibus. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts.

Week 2 - Into the woods

This week will be all about the mysteries which lie within the woods. To start off the week we will make clay toadstalls & paint them, make up our own mystery forest board game and then play them in groups and take part in exploding mud science experiment, baking this week includes making rock cakes and chocolate mud pies. On Tuesday our outing will be to the mysterious world of Tumblestone Hollow at Stonor Park by Mini-Bus. On Thursday our outing will be to Dinton Pastures via minibus where we will be nature explorers for the day doing bug hunts, den building and scavenger hunts. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts .

Week 3 - Into the woods

This week will be about fairytales. Activities for children to choose from are: Making fairy dust necklaces, baking fairy cakes, making twig magic wands, building cardboard gingerbread houses from hansel & Gretel and group challenges such as who can build the biggest tree with junk. On Tuesday our outing will be to Virginia Waters via minibus for more nature exploring, bug hunts and scavenger hunts. Children will be able to collect items from their walks to later make a nature collage. On Thursday our outing will be to Bekonscot Model Village via minibus. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts .

Week 4 - Into the woods

This week will be about the creatures and their habitats. Activities for children to choose from are: Making bird feeders for our own gardens, decorating stones, salt dough woodland animals, making woodland bookmarks and baking hedgehog bread. Challenge this week will be to take part in a woodland quiz. Our outing on Tuesday will be to Boulters Lock where we will play in the park, and enjoy a picnic and ice cream after a stroll along the river. On Thursday will be to Odeon Cinema to watch the latest film. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts

Week 5 - Into the woods

This week will be about the colours within the woods. Activities for children to choose from are: Making marble ink pictures, flower crowns and making fruit pizza’s inspired by insects. Group activity this week will be to put together a nature inspired cake sale on Monday and sell them to the parents, this will raise money for some new equipment for the club. Also take part in nature bingo! On Tuesday this week the outing will be to Marlow Park via train to play in the park and feed the ducks, on Thursday our outing will be to Braywick Minigolf, the children will walk there. On Friday children will have a sports day in Grenfell park. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts.

Week 6 - Into the woods

Become nature explorers this week hunting for bugs with magnifying glasses, making mini bug hotels, making our own twig & string spider webs, making twig boomerangs to play with and making clay bugs. Baking this week we will make spider pizzas. Group activity will be to come up with a play about into the woods. On Tuesday our outing will be to Swinley Forest and Look Out Play Park in Bracknell via minibus, children will spend some time in the wooden park along with a nature walk and den building. On Thursday children will go via train to Windsor for the day for a play in Alexandra Gardens, feed the ducks and for a Mcdonalds lunch. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts.

Week 7 - Into the woods

As we come to the end of the Summer Holidays we will put together our own scrap book of the adventures we have been on over the summer, making hanging stick picture frames and baking hedgehog bread. On Wednesday we will have a visit from the popular Basil Farm who will bring with them their farm animals for the day. To finish the summer holidays on Thursday we will have a Disco in the afternoon along with a pizza delivery. As always, we aim to take the children to the park daily. We will have a variety of activities set up over the week for the children’s enjoyment including challenges, sports, group games and arts & crafts.
