Wise Owls Preschool at Woodlands Park Methodist Church in Maidenhead provides an exceptional sessional preschool for 32 children. Our preschool is open during term time only from 9.15am - 1.30pm Monday-Friday, preschool sessions run from 9.30am - 12.30pm

Our preschool is an integral part of the local community. At this age, children are developing greater independence as they progress into their preschool years. At Wise Owls, our preschool programme offers a more structured pace of purposeful learning, where qualified staff thoughtfully craft activities around learning outcomes so that children are stretched and challenged in a safe, engaging and fun way.

We firmly believe that children learn best through play, so we encourage children to explore the world around them, have a curious mind and become independent thinkers. At Wise Owls, a child’s natural curiosity directs their learning and development through positive interactions; equipping them with essential life skills such as problem solving, self-discipline, patience, communication and teamwork.

As well as many on site activities we also have the odd school trip to Woolley Firs nature reserve, forest school at our Shurlock Row site, as well as sports days, Christmas fairs and other life-learning activities.

Social Skills

We aim to help children develop their social skills; listening skills, self-discipline, patience, and focus for the task, ability to work with others, and the ability to solve problems.

Curious Minds

We want to spark curiosity and build a base for the sort of knowledge and passion that helps children develop skills they need at school.

Love of Learning

We aim to instil a love of learning in children that attend our preschool, encouraging them to read, building their vocabulary and language skills through meaningful interactions and experiences that will help them become confident readers.

School Ready

As your child gets older, we will begin to introduce more adult-led activities to prepare them for a more formal learning environment to ensure that the transition to school is a smooth one. Our preschools follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. If you would like to know more information about the EYFS, visit the Foundation Years website.

Funding

We accept 15 and 30 hours funding which can be used against a session, lunch club and our early drop off period.

Lunch Club

Our lunch club costs an additional £5.00 and offers children the opportunity to further develop socialisation skills. A packed lunch is required.
