Preschool Routine

We like a routine for the children which they can relate to and learn from. Children love structure and they like to know what to expect, this gives them confidence and makes them feel comfortable within their surroundings.

We will do a number of craft, sport and educational activities throughout the day. The children will have the opportunity for a nap and quiet time and we aim to ensure that we meet the needs of each child.

The routines we set at our preschool depend on each child’s age and stage of development. It enables them some free play, story time, maths and English based activities. We do planned art and craft activities based on the day’s topic and free art sessions for the children as well as sport, music and movements. We have circle time and group discussions to enable the children to build their confidence and feel part of the preschool.

We aim to provide a fun, caring and stimulating environment for children in our preschool and we do this by creating a wide range of play opportunities for the children, which are both adult and child led. At our preschool, we pride ourselves on developing each child’s individual abilities and preparing them with top quality skills for life in a structured learning environment.

Under Three's Routine

When children join preschool at 2 year of age, it is all very new and exciting, most of them have not been in an environment like this away from their parents which can be both exciting and a little daunting.

We offer settling in sessions to enable each child to visit the school with a parent or carer they are familiar with. They will see the children and know a bit more about the routine preparing them before they join. Many of our staff are parents too and we have all gone through the process of settling all children in a positive manner including our own.

When your child starts the nursery at 2 years old they may join in from the beginning or may choose to play in a familiar area. This is all part of the process and we will always encourage them to be part of the routine. We also appreciate it is important not to push them into uncomfortable situations and that it is a slow and positive experience for some. Others may jump in with both feet and want to be part of everything on offer. We feel the most important element is that each child feels safe and happy within the school.

The children will have a routine which is a room routine however there will be activities which are dedicated to the younger children within the nursery. We feel this is very important to build their confidence and skills. As the children grow in confidence, ability and age these activities will be adapted to suit their age and development encouraging them to succeed in more tasks.

If your child is under 3 you have the option to book 3 afternoon or more sessions or 2 or more full days. This is to assist your child settling and so that we can do sessions catered to your child’s development and age.

2 year old funded children are accepted for a limited number of sessions. Please contact the office if you wish to register your interest.

Over Three's Routine

When children join the school at 3 years of age and over they are likely to be more confident and may already have attended a nursery or class without a parent. However, it is all still very new and exciting.

We offer settling in sessions to enable each child to visit the school with a parent or carer they are familiar with. Then they will attend one without a parent or carer.

Our staff are mainly parents too and we have all gone through the process of settling the children in a positive manner including our own.

The children will have a routine which is a room routine however there will be activities which are dedicated to the older more capable, confident children as well as the initially shy, quiet children. We feel this is very important to build their confidence and skill set depending on ability, confidence and skill. We always seek to adapt the activities to suit and encourage further development in each and every child.

If your child is over 3 you have the option to book 5 mornings or 3 afternoon this is so that your child can settle and take full advantage of our program. Your child can also have the opportunity to do full days. We accept 15 hour funding as part payment towards your sessions please see our price list. We also accept 30 hour funding if your child attends full time. Funded only sessions are limited and provided during the afternoon period, to register for this please contact the office direct.

Over Three's Routine

It is very important to encourage every step of development to enhance the children learning new skills which will help each child develop through school and beyond. We believe learning should be fun and we have some exciting activities to make everything interesting and exciting.

Each term we have a different project from learning about our oceans, our families, farms, the world around us and so much more. Each week will have a project-based theme and each day we will have a topic that helps to direct our activities and discussion. This helps children understand what they are learning about and also for parents to see and be part of what their child is doing at school.

We always look to source teachers in English, Maths, French, IT and Sport to give the children short fun extra assistants and skills in this area to prepare them for Reception at School. We will encourage the children to listen to instructions, follow instructions as well as listening to each other and accepting others’ views.
