I’m a celebrity, get me outta here! Brace yourself for a wild week packed with den building, bug hunting, fossil art, crafting bug models from junk, mini golf with dinosaurs, a sticky web science experiment and a visit from Reptile Man, who will bring along his scaly critters for us to touch and hold. Let the outdoor escapades begin! See below for what we have in store each day.
Monday 19 August
We will start the week with a fun game of benchball and will then go on to make our own bugs. How many eyes will your bug have? We will challenge our Discovery group to see who can make the longest worm using homemade playdough. We will head to Grenfell Park with magnifying glasses and jars to go on a super bug hunt before coming back to club to make bug hotels from recycled materials. We will undertake a Bees & Pollination experiment in the afternoon and make alligator cupcakes! We will finish off the day with a fun game of ‘Floor is Lava’.
Tuesday 20 August
We will start the day with a game of dodgeball and we will then make pasta snakes along with junk modelling some creepy crawlies. We are off to play some mini golf at Braywick Adventure Golf and then onto the Braywick Nature Reserve for another bug hunt. Back at club we will finish off the day with some den building in the playground.
Wednesday 21 August
There will be a game of British Bulldogs to get us warmed up for a trip to Braywick Park running track for some races and to get fit on the outdoor gym. There will be a sticky science experiment and we will make reptiles out of clay and paint them unique colours. In the afternoon we will make our own spider webs using paper plates, wool and glitter, and we will finish off the day with a game of Hide & Seek.
Thursday 22 August
Today is all about our slimy and scaly creatures, with a visit from the very popular Reptile Man. We will get to hold snakes, lizards and turtles and learn about many different reptiles. We will kick off the day with a game of football, followed by a fun with some sensory activities using green spaghetti. We will do a dancing worm science experiment and play bug charades after making our own spider pizzas. To end the day, we will go on a manhunt in the playground.
Friday 23 August
Today we will have a fun obstacle course challenge in the morning followed by making peg crocodiles and free range collaging. We are off to Kidwell’s Park today for a picnic, group games and time on the playground. Back at club, we will make bug stones and bake butterfly cakes.
Each day, children can take part in a variety of sport and physical activities like basketball, football, skipping, bouldering and bench ball, as well as enjoy a variety of free-time activities including board games, colouring in, Lego competitions, group games, and a wide selection of arts and crafts materials to choose from.
Please note: While we do plan to visit the park every day, this is weather dependent.
